In 2008, 36 Israelis were killed by Arab terrorists, up from 13 in 2007.

More than a third of the casualties were in Jerusalem; eight murdered in Mercaz HaRav.

There was one suicide bombing (same as 2007). It happened in Dimona in February, killing one and injuring 28. Each of them surely felt safe until the moment of the blast.

Arabs from East Jerusalem launched two attacks with a tractor, two with a car, while others attacked Jews the old-fashioned way, with knives and guns.

Number of Palestinian terrorists released by Israel in 2008: more than 240.

Number of imprisoned ”collaborators” with Israel, and POWs, including Shalit, released by Hamas: zero.

According to former deputy Shin Bet chief Israel Hasson, the number of dead and wounded resulting from Israel’s 2004 release of Islamic Jihad prisoners in deal for Elhanan Tanenbaum: More than 30 Israelis dead, more than 100 wounded.

Since Jewish settlers left Gaza in 2005, Gaza rockets hunted those Jews into Israel; 6,300 rockets were fired at Israeli civilians, killing 10, wounding more than 780. The number of those Israeli civilians whose fate was protested by most Jews who now cringe when “civilians” are wounded in Gaza? None.

The number of rockets and mortar shells fired from Gaza in 2008: Approximately 1,800; 182 in August; 80 on Christmas Eve alone.
