First Orthodox Woman Rabba

Rabbi Avi Weiss is changing the title of Maharat Sara Hurwitz to Rabbi Rabba, a title that at least sounds like clergy, as Maharat is a contrived and convoluted word that means absolutely nothing to people not in the know. It means absolutely nothing to me, and I am in the know. Either way, Sara Hurwitz is great at what she does, far beyond a vowel’s power to add or subtract.

Weiss has the wrong religion. There are no female rabbis or rabbas in my religion.

  2. Rachel Tziporah Says:

abekrieger is correct. There are no female rabbis in Torah true, observant, Orthodox Judaism.
